I had the opportunity to collect thousands of photographs from multiple countries, cities, towns and adventures over the last few years. Despite its many challenges, the global pandemic gave me the opportunity to really look inward. It was during this time of reflection that I finally found a way to present what I had captured in a way that felt fresh and exciting.

Each piece has been created using many different crops from various photos. Some of these moments I noticed when I took the photo, some of them I only noticed with a fresh pair of eyes.

The word mandala literally translates to ‘Circle’ in Sanskrit (मण्डल). Mandalas are an important part of eastern religion such as Hinduism and Buddhism and are said to represent they universe. The circular design speaks of the oneness of existence, of how our lives are part of a never ending journey in which everything is connected. Having spent a lot of time in the east and continuing to take part in various eastern practices such as yoga and meditation I found myself creating my interpretation of this sacred art form.

For me, it’s an incredibly mindful and energising process watching the moments I’ve captured come together into a new, interconnected piece of art.

My hope for these art pieces is that they provide a source of energy, contemplation, conversation and space for reflection in people’s lives.
